CLASS SCHEDULE JANUARY, FEBRUARY, MARCH 2023

 

JANUARY

 

Quilt As-You-Go

Tuesdays, January 3 & 17                                               Time:  12:00 – 4:00

In this class, you will learn to make projects without putting the entire thing through your sewing machine to quilt it.  This class meets every other Tuesday afternoon; you will make a project of your selection (or Terry will make suggestions for projects if wanted).  Each block will be pieced, then sandwiched with batting and quilted. It is fun to quilt and practice when it is only on a single block! Then you will use a sashing technique to join the blocks.  You can use this technique with any quilt block, traditional to modern. This class is beginner friendly. Come join the fun!

Intermediate Software
Tuesdays, January 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31                              Time:  6:00 – 8:00                    

In each session, new lessons will be taught straight from Bernina using Bernina Software Version 9.  We will explore new techniques and functions.

Fun, Easy Quilting Projects with Myrt

Wednesdays, January 4, 11, 18 & 25                               Time:  1:00 – 4:00

Let’s do some EASY quilting projects just for the fun of getting together and sewing!  This class is open to ALL adult levels.  We will select the projects from quick, easy patterns – nothing overwhelming!  Fabrics are each individual’s choice.

Ultimate Travel Bag 2.0

Fridays, January 6, 13 & 20 (3 Session Class)                   Time:  11:00 – 4:00

This travel companion bag, designed by Annie, is so popular!  It opens wide for easy access, has side handles and padded strap, lots of pockets, trolley sleeve to slip on to rolling luggage.  It has a full zippered pocket plus three more slip pockets inside.  And, it is very classy looking!

Kimberbell Embroidery Projects

Saturday, January 7                                                       Time:  10:00 – 4:00

This class is for anyone working on Kimberbell Embroidery projects.  You can work on ANY Kimberbell project you want and get assistance from Myrt with any questions.  It might be a quilt, bench pillow, mug rugs, wallhangings or ask for suggestions.  Kimberbell has a wide range of levels for machine embroidery each with a variety of techniques.  They are always coming out with new projects.  And they are SO fun to do!

Free Motion For Everyone

Thursday, January 12                                                     Time:  1:00

Let’s doodle with pretty threads.  Free motion practice while creating a great tote bag.  All skill levels are welcome.

Beginning Quilting (EVENING!!)
Wednesdays, Jan. 25, Feb. 1, 8, 15, 22 & March 1            Time:  6:00 – 9:00
This class is for beginners in the truest sense of the word.  It will include rotary cutting, piecing, a little applique, quilting and binding!  When you finish you will have a fun table runner and you will be ready to make a quilt on your own!  You will be using the Teach Me to Make My First Quilt book by Pat Sloan.

Catching Up With Terry

This is for students in Terry Kelling’s classes who may need a little extra help on her projects or maybe be making up a missed class.  She will be available to assist you on anything she has taught (bags, patterns by Annie, etc).

Demo Daze

Demo Daze is upping its game.  Beginning in January we will be featuring fun, creative and new project ideas that you are sure to want to try.  There will be more What’s New at Bernina, maybe new ideas for the Foot of the Month and an occasional game just for fun.  2023 is going to be a great year.  Demo Daze is the last Tuesday of every month.  Can’t wait to see you all!

This bag, designed by Studio Kat designs, includes a built-in wallet with a drop-down area with slots for your cards.  Also, it has a larger area for sunglasses, makeup and more.  Dimensions are 8.5” x 6” x 3.5”.

Beginning Quilting (Daytime)
Mondays, February 6, 13, 20, 27, March 6, 13 & 20          Time:  1:00 – 4:00
This class is for beginners in the truest sense of the word.  Everything will be included from fabric selection, rotary cutting, piecing, quilting and binding!  When you finish you will have a nice wall hanging or table top size quilt.  And you will be ready to make a quilt on your own!

Starlight Beginner Paper Piecing

Saturdays, February 11 & 18                                           Time:  10:00 – 1:00

In this two session class you will complete a 20”x20” block with a paper pieced center. Learn the basics with a pattern and starter kit by Jacqueline de Jonge of Anthology fabrics. Usually a more intricate designer she has made a great beginner block for those wanting to try paper piecing or pick up new tips. Your completed block will make a lovely wall-hanging or table topper.

Really Awesome Rope

Thursday, February 16                                                   Time:  1:00

Let’s make a bowl, trivet or coaster using your sewing machine.  Rope projects are back in a big way.  This a follow up to January’s Demo Daze.  Supply list will be available at the store.

Bring your own embroidery project and work on it at your own pace – with some staff help available if needed. Finish up previous projects or start something new.  Maybe you are new to machine embroidery and just need a little encouragement.  Machines are available.

Fuse, Fold & Stitch Bags

Fridays, March 3, 10 & 17 (3 session class)                      Time:  11:00 – 4:00

This bag, designed by Aunties Two, can be made in two sizes.  It can be constructed with 10” Layer Cake precuts or strips.  This fun technique will make a tote bag with a magnetic snap closure and four inside pockets.  Large size is 15” x 8” x16”.  Small size is 10” x 8” x 16”.

Seasonal Placemats Easter

Friday, March 24                                                            Time:  11:00 – 5:00

This quarter we will make fun, bunny placemats for Easter time.  The snowmen placemats they made last quarter turned out so cute and wintery.  This is a great class if you want to try applique because it is easy applique. The pattern includes placemats for spring, summer, fall and winter so you can have a festive table for all four seasons.  Can ALSO be used for wall hangings.  Pattern:  Seasonal Placemats by The Whole Country Caboodle.

Class Cancellation and Refund Policy:  Please sign up early to reserve your place in class.  Classes must be paid for before our cancellation deadline (three days before class starts). You may cancel and receive a full refund up to three days before class.  After the three day limit you will receive store credit.  If a class is cancelled by us you may have your class fee refunded or receive store credit.  If class enrollment does not meet the minimum requirement, it may be cancelled.
